i mean i guess it is for some things

but in many situations i think it would be far worse to live than to die. to me, death is just a part of life that everyone goes through and if you kill someone for a punishment, it could be the easy way out for them.

which is why i think, ppl commit suicide.
most ppl are afraid of dying but i think it'd be more terrifying and cruel to continue living in some cases

I believe that some crimes should be punished in the style of 'eye for an eye'. If they robbed, beat, and stabbed someone to death, that's what their sentence should be. Give them right back the fear, pain, and anguish they gave out, and add humiliation to it. People might be more apt to think twice about committing such brutal acts.

I think murder is the only crime for which death is justified. And yes, I agree--there are things worse than death. I'd imagine that a life in prison would be worse than death. Prison is an ugly place. But the purpose of the penal system isn't to inflict cruelty, it's to rehabilitate.

wow, interesting question, i have thought about also.
that is exactly why some (intelligent) countries DO NOT have the death penalty...............
they know how to punish a person.
but your first answerer is correct too.................why should society support these bad people ? who needs 'em ?
these countries worship the almighty dollar, and want these people gone.
but, as far as, the death penalty as a deterrent................the problem is that we don't use it enough. we should make more crimes punishable by The Death Penalty. imagine if you got 'death' for robbing a bank !!!! i think more people would not chance it...........cause it is usually easy to Prove. so you are gone. ha

As far as the death penalty, I think it should be utilized in lieu of a life sentence for most prisoners because that way we as a society will not have to pay to keep them alive with our taxes for decades. I also think there should be a time limit to appeal a case before the execution takes place. It's not right for us to pay to feed, clothe, and house someone who will never see the light of day again.

hmm, maybe u deserve daeth because it is not the esy was out and u have nothing to say on suicide. have you ever known someone who commited it or tried to?? well i have and it hurets for one thing, for them especially, to go through actually doing that and their friends left to mourn. i've had friends kill themselves and i know the pain they went through and lived with for so long and how hard and painful it was for them to kill themself. Ever held a gun to ur own head(they shot it through their mouth, u know the old ;gun in the mouth' thing, yeah, dath is inedmiable(*****, i cna't spell...)). do u know why they shake when they do that? they're scared and hurting. as a crime whatever, it's been in error too many times for my liking, but don't comment on suicide like u understand it.
