I know that Dalai Lama is the head of Tibet and has used non violence as a way to possibly earn Tibet her freedom. But whats so special about him? I mean, other than advocating non violence, is there anything that makes him stand out from other people?

In 1950, China invaded Tibet (as quickly as a rustic) and interior the overdue Fifties the Dalai Lama left China and fled to India. The Dalai Lama is a guy of peace (he as quickly as gained a Nobel Peace prize) however the chinese language government makes him look undesirable, that's somewhat apalling. distinctive Tibetans have been systematically discriminated via the chinese language government for some years. Tibet became by no skill available to China. Buddhism is a faith of peace and compassion.

"Other than advocating non-violence" is a pretty big thing. Ghandi was able to get freedom for India with that same non-violence. He has continued to stand fast on his beliefs even though he has had to live in exile since the early '50's, when China invaded his country, took it over, and slaughtered every monk they could get their hands on. I think it's disgusting that nothing has been done about this for 50 years now!
