Can a doctor tell you are a prgnant before your missed period? Or how soon in general?

A doctor can tell you early with a blood test.

But some women (like myself) do get a positive result on a urine test days before their period is expected.

Well I have seen the commercial for the hpt that can tell you whether or not your pregnant 3 days before your missed period. If an hpt can do that, then I'm sure a doctor should be able to tell you with bloodwork as soon as that and it will be more accurate.

But normally with hpt's, it is advised that you wait at least a week after your missed period to test.

A blood test can determining pregnancy as early as about 6-8 days after conception.

A urine test could potentially test positive as early as 10 days or so (are we sure the women who test this soon didn't conceive a week earlier than they thought?), but it's rare to see them be reliable before 12-14 days (or about the day your period is due). The longer you wait, the better the chance that the test will actually detect the hormone.

some can tell as early as a week before but for MOST women you need to wait til you have missed your period.
