His father was out of the picture when Gene was very young. His mother treated him pretty good. They lived with other relatives for years. He led a pretty sheltered live.

he said his mama was a holocaust survivor which was why he never got into drugs/excess alcohol problems when he was a kid
i heard that he wasn't into that at all in his Kiss days
he didn't want to give his mom any more trouble than she'd already been through
so i'm sure his mom n dad were really good to him ;)

when i was a lil kid, i remember he had a work out show on tv. he used to have his mom on there quite a bit. he used to hug on her and dote on her. that is all i can remember.
