I own a 97 Yamaha YZF1000 (aka Thunderace) and I need to change the speed sensor on the front wheel. so I need to know if I can jack the bike up safely? Underneath the engine seems to be all exhaust pipes. I dont see any frame bar etc to put the jack under. The exhaust pipes are sturdy but can they hold the bikes weight with out being bent? I cant afford a front stand, any help from someone experienced in this would be great. thanks in advance.

Dude, a front stand is not that much and honestly it is the safest way to lift your motorcycle. Try to borrow one if all else fails.

You might also think about just taking the exhaust off from the headers back and then using the engine to jack it up. Then you can block the front suspension up with bricks

Remove the lower.
Side stand down.
Put a floor jack under the crankcase in the right front corner.
To the right of the oil filter, on the lower crankcase half, is a square chunk of metal.
Use that spot if you can.
It's the strongest part of the engine.

good advice: DO NOT waste ur hard earned money on a motorcycle jack! Motorcycle jacks don't work cause none of them are low enough to fit under most motorcycles!
I use a regular garage floor jack with a big piece of a 2x6 in top of the jack.

dont jack it up by the exhaust.....look under the frame directly under the seat...there should be a flat spot where you can put the jack..where the rear swing arm meets the rest of the frame...good luck.

With a bike jack right in the middle.

You can use a ratchet strap and lift it from the triple tree to a ceiling beam or overhead 'I' beam found in most home garages.
