I am thinking about taking a position in Helena Montana and I am concerned about the racial situation. after reading an article about supremicist groups recruiting in the area, I just wanted to know if the area is heavily racist. is it safe for someone of color to live? What is there for young adults in there early twenty's to do?

Helena is not a supremicist center and it is not a racist town. Most Montana's are "main stream". I don't think that you will experience prejudice in Helena. But, some prejudice exist in Montana just as it does anyplace in America.

FYI, according to the 2006 American Community Survey, Montana's population is 0.5% Black or African American. That's 4470 people. http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/ACSSAFFFacts?_event=Search&geo_id=&_geoContext=&_street=&_county=&_cityTown=&_state=04000US30&_zip=&_lang=en&_sse=on&pctxt=fph&pgsl=010

As to racism, I would suggest that you review the local newspaper for articles or incidents that may give some tangible information.
