It's starving for fuel, open the vent on your fuel tank. If its the original fuel tank it will not have a manual vent so it may be a bad fuel cap. Crack the cap when this occurs and see if it picks up speed again. If the venting is ok look for a pinched fuel line or other fuel flow issues.

Check your fuel take vent. Sounds like your not getting air in tank and after a few minuets of running the tank forms a vacuum and fuel flow stops.

sounds like a gas problem
I have a 70hp same make that had the same problem.
if you have a pump bulb inline try pumping it next time the boat starts to die, if it comes back then your having a gas flow problem.
Could be a number of things,
gas line getting air, pump bulb and or connector
gas filter (clogged)
fuel pump (bad)
anti-siphon pick up (bad)
Good luck, it took me a while to diagnose and repair mine, I ended up replacing everything but the anti-siphon pick up

Check your gas filter or for a vacuum leak in a hose sounds like you are not getting enough gas at high speed load.

Could be a number of things, but it sounds fuel-related rather than mechanical. Fuel line problem or dirty gas. Have it checked.

It needs work. Take it to a mechanic who is qualified to work on boat motors and have him diagnose the specific problem and give you an estimate of the repair cost. It may just be a clogged filter, or it could be that an entire clan of swamp monsters has taken up residense inside your carburator.

if the engine has oil injection, get it taken off, my evinrude has been great since, i have also switch to synthetic oil, first was shell and my neighbour told me not to use that junk, he was right, i bought Lucas synthetic oil and my gas consumtion has increased by 75%, it's like a brand new engine, you also may have problems with the coil pack, Ken.
