A good listener, economically self-supporting, emotionally supportive (not automatically agreeing with anyone who disagrees with me, as I once experienced), honest (especially if he strays, so at least I know where I stand). Not rich, because I don't want to be at somebody's beck and call. Not too goodlooking, because I don't want to watch him fight off the babes. Down-to-earth, but without making a production of farting at the dinner table. Somewhat of a sense of humor is nice, but not somebody whose idea of a joke is making fun of me. Somebody whose basic values are in accord with my own, which probably means democratic and progressive, although I've enjoyed arguing with libertarians. Literate--can you read this message? or as I said in my personals ad: Proof of literacy required. And fairly intelligent--much as I have loved some inveterate TV viewers, I can no longer stand to compete with a TV on all the time.

I think you never know exactly what your ideal match would be like until you actually meet them, but my current idea of a perfect spouse would be considerate, kind, attentive, trustworthy, honest, understanding, good-humoured, smart..... or else Jonathan Rhys Meyers! ;)

One who listens, laughs, loves sex, loves his famliy, isn't grumpy all the time. One who communicates well, gives affection yet understands when to leave you be. One who works and tries to support his family, takes care in his appearance and loves unconditionally. Like mine. I'm lucky
