Is the advice in the golden mean is good?
the golden mean=the middle path, avoid extremes, be conservative.

hmmm...difficult question. In a society "shared sacrifice by all" for group projects is ideal. this rarely achieved, you can see examples of that in a war of maximum efforts, when winning the war means survival of te society and losing means extinction of society and culture. There practice of the golden rule would be frowned upon. The golden rule should be applied in context, when the situation is normal, the rule applies, the mean typically is the safest and best path to choose.
If the situation is extreme, war, world trade center bombing, fires in calif, earthquake, or if your personal situation is extreme, child kidnapped, family threatened, loss of home, then your pathe should reflect that context and in no wise be average in your response.

Not always, I mean it was extreme to go to war and get rid of hitler. I think the conservative/golden mean approach with him would have been a big mistake. Every situation is different. It may be safe in most cases though.
