most of the answers are right. what is meant by "black magic" is really just "manipulation". it can be exercised in many ways, usually ppl do it verbally. if you feel like someone is manipulating you, the best recourse is your own free will. they are powerless against your own decision to dismiss whatever the heck it is they're trying to accomplish. it will not be done through you and they can't lay any kind of curse over you to take away your own will.
as for being protective, besides the obvious religeous answers (which are equally valid) you constantly send out energy through your thoughts and actions. keep them positive, and positive is what you will see coming back.

Willpower and faith, that which can not reach you can not harm you, you use your own will and your faith in whatever you believe in to protect yourself from anything attempting to do you any form of physical or mental or psychological or even emotional harm... because black magicks use the spiritual realms as a gateway between things they can not touch. at least thats what they believe. One thing you could do is to visualize an orb of reflectivity all over your body in your imagination, but believe it is protecting you and it will. we as humans are more powerful than the commonplace beliefs state, I'm a christian of a sort, and I believe that when God made us in His / Her / It's image that provided for a limited source of power beyond the physical, not as much as God, but some. MOST Spells are incantations, and NEVER trust a spirit other than God (whoever you believe) and the people you trust. an incantation will only lead to bad things in the future even with best intent.

What your feeling is FEAR, whoever you think may be doing this needs to let you know in subtle ways. They only have any sort of power through suggestion. They are playing with your mind, and I know that this can feel real but it is only your fear and your thoughts that are making this happen. You need to know this and understand it. o.k.
Now if you read what hastings says it is so true. You have to guard yourself NOT from anything else only your own thoughts.
Every time you feel something is about to happen then just picture yourself inside a golden ball of pure light.
Ask God to protect you and send you peace. You are now setting the scene for healing from within. Do you understand this, YOU are in control.
If you can, depending on what time of day it is then go out into the fresh air and take deep breaths, on you IN breath imagine that you are breathing in total pure light, on your OUT
breaths you are letting go of any bad thoughts.
Do this excercise first thing in the morning in the shower, I do and it sets me up for the day.

Magic can only affect you as far as you allow. If someone has cast some sort of spell on you, you have already given it far more power by your fear than the spell would have had otherwise. Try to think good thoughts and allow only goodness and love, rather than fear, to radiate from your heart.

Its best to see if there's some way of communicating with that person, and either apologize or explain what you did to made this happen to you, and ask them to stop... no point in going to someone who will "return the favor" as it will be never strong enough if someone else is doing it for you, either way, good luck!
