What time? Theres diffrent things explorers did. But no matter what the time, it was hard. They didn't know what to expect, so preparing to go into the great unknown was hard. You could incounter anything, I imagion some of them exected monsters. Mostly ancient explorers, I imagion, expected monsters.
When Columbus was out there trying to get to Asia, people thought the world was flat and he'd go over the edge, never to come back again. This had to have scared him, but he did it anyway. All explorers are bold, daring, couragous, smart, and can improvise. They also need to be inspiring and know what their doing and have a lot of experince.
