How many cells are present in a colony? How are the cells of a colony different and how are they alike?

It is impossible to name how many cells are in a colony. This could vary by orders of magnitude. Somewhere around 1000s to 10,000s. The cells of a colony should all be genomic clones of eachother, with the exception of any variation that occured as a result of mutation during cell replication.
