Ammonium aluminum alum is NH4Al(SO4)2; let it be called A

Al ===> NH4Al(SO4)2

Atomic weights: N=14 H=1 Al=27 S=32 O=16 NH4Al(SO4)2= 237

2.20gAl x 1molAl/27gAl x 1molA/1molAl x 237gA/1molA = 19.3g alum

Chemical formula of Ammonium aluminum is (NH4)3-Al. 2.20 g of aluminum is .081 mol of aluminum, which corresponds to .0815x3=.244 mol NH4. .244 mol NH4 weighs 4.4 g. Add that weight to the 2.20 g of aluminum and you get 6.6 g as the total weight.
