I've allways wondered that... history
(I had to put the word history in there because I couldn't find that catagorey myself so I was hoping that they'd suggjest it.)

Actually yes there are still pirates out there and the have been attacks on yahts to fishing boats. dont worry though odds of beening attacked are next to none

Absolutely there are still pirates sailing various of the seven seas. Carribean pirates generally attack small pleasure boats with a mind toward stealing them and often killing the owners. Much the same goes on the the Southwest Pacific Ocean. Off the east coast of Africa pirates are so prevalent and enterprising in some areas that they have attempted to take much larger ships. The U.S. Navy has had several incidents with them, running them off when they venture out to attack commercial shipping.

Believe it or not yes there still are pirates. They are mostly seen in southeast asia, throughout much of the southern Pacific Ocean and they are very very dangerous. There have also been pirate reportings in the Caribbean lately.

Yes, definitely. Larger concentrations in southeast asia and off east africa, but there is activity world wide. Down in the carribean small craft are stolen and owners killed, then they are used for disposable drug running vehicles. It is a problem around the world and is getting worse every year. It is also getting more high tech every year; GPS systems, radar, satellite tracking, yada; just like the mouse and mousetrap.

Yes, there are pirates and they are a whole lot more sophisticated in their plundering, then they were years ago. And I doubt you'd find them written about in a romantic way.

yes! believe it or not they attack cruise and shipping lines and are considered a serious threat by interpol.
