My doctor told me my cholesterol is way too high! He says I have a cholesterol level of an 90year old. I was on Zocor for 3months it's still high, now Im on WelChor. Iam finally getting serious about this so Im changing my diet. Im giving up read meat, and junk food. It has been such a hard long week.
Will you mourn with me? No more read meat!

Yeah I am taking Gemfibrozil for Triglycerides. My cholesterol has been as high as 500. I also need to lose 100lbs. I also have been diagnosed as having type II Diabetes. It's not so much the red meat, it's the Carbohydrates and pork products that you need to cut down on. Eat Asian. And more fish in your diet. Less breads, pastas, and pastries

My dad had very high cholesterol. He was on Lipitor and had to cut out the same foods. This meant I had to start cooking different, healthier meals for him. My sister and I changed our diets to support him, and when he went in to get checked he was at a lower level than the projected goal! (I must admit, i was a little proud of myself :) )
Hang in there, it'll get better. And then you can enjoy the red meat when you're allowed to have it again!!!

My Mom is going through the same thing right now. After my Mom told me what was going on, I went to the doc to get mine checked, I'm 38 and so far lucky. I think I could handle losing red meat more than the junk food. I'm so sorry for you. Be strong its for you health.

Just so u know, there are a LOT of alternatives to giving up red meat...switching to low cholosterol versions of other foods can be just as effective ;)
