I am a black person, and i was wondering why we have to act so ignorant. PLEASE no RACIAL COMMENTS

but still, why? Why do we have to make up a large percentage of poor people in America. Why do we choose to have artificial dreams like going to the NBA, instead of wanting to be a doctors and lawyers. Why do our parents have to raise their children like retarded animals that care nothing of education. Why are we sagging our pants and talking like we Ebonics. It's bad when the white man has to make up some sort of dialect just to name what the heck we are speaking. Why are we raising our young women to look like prostitutes. Why are we raising our men to be unsupportive fathers? Why do we not value education? WHY WHY WHY???

(some of us do act like we have sense, but why do our fellow brothers and sisters have to act this way?)

u people obviously do not read. Did i not just say that SOME of us act like we have sense, and to be honest, accepting ignorance is not the way to help a culture excel, or better the image that they are portraying. Like it or not, all of these ghetto people are portraying us in the wrong way. The only thing we can do is to try and fix, those of us who have sense anyways.

I actually would agree with your post and I am an African American. There are a lot of black people who are extremely ignorant, however, on the flip side there are plenty of black people including myself that are not ignorant and know how to conduct ourselves properly. It is a shame that some black people really do not find an issue with the manner in which they act. They are barbaric and love drama. I cannot just say poverty because I wasn't born with a lot of money however, I am not ghetto or ignorant. It is a type of culture within some of the black communities that creates this type of behavior. Sucks.

There is a large percentage of poor people in the UK, there are people who have artificial dreams, some parents do a poor job of raising their children, there are parents and children who don't care about education, some young women look like prostitutes and others are, most of the women who work on the streets do so because they believe they are doing it to provide a better life for their kids when in actual fact they are caught in the trap of never being able to find another job that will pay the money that prostitution brings in, there are men who are unsupportive fathers/absent fathers, but this is the white population so unfortunately it is not just black people who have a monopoly on these things....it is a sad fact that people all colours are like this. It is not so much that blacks or whites are specifically like this its just that some are. It is sometimes how kids are brought up that makes them this way, sometimes it is a sense of failure, lack of education or just that some people like living that way. But like we said before it is not predominantly black Americans, its also white Europeans/British too. xx

I am Black,Puerto Rican, and Indian. For some reason I have noticed that Black people some of them make their self look bad. Like gettting into fights or not going to school. People who don't get an education they tend to not make as much as someone with education. Even when it comes to living in a neighborhood with them, I don't even want to live around them. I live in a White neighborhood instead. I like to be around people who want something out of life. I do have black in me, but I cover up my body. I don't wear tight shirts or little shorts showing my vaginal region at all. Some women don't tell the father that they are going to help or maybe they don't file for child support. I disagre with the raising children like retared animals. Some actually raise their children right, but they make the choice to go down the wrong path. I do agree that Black people or anyone can do more than play a sport to mae money. They can be anything they want to be, if they put their mind to it. I have wondered the same thing, why so many Black people act ignorant? Acting that wy won't make people want to even help someone out, it shows that some of them don't want nothing out of life. It is very sad to see people act like this.

Look at how much worse things are getting.(Side note: People cant answer questions they always find some tangent.) The issue isn t only black. But in my own opinion I feel like the black youth is being used to popularize bad behavior. I feel that the real problem lays in fact that the rich and powerful play the general populace. Our kids are taught by TV , entertainers, and people like pro sports people. Schools no longer teach they are used to find those good at sport so they can be exploited (many schools profit from sports venues.) By the way ever notice that rich black who will talk about white people will then buddy up to those same rich white folk. Please stop thinking rich care about you regardless of race they use all of us

Yes, it's a shame when we encounter ignorance. But young lady, I live in LA and I encounter ignorance in all races!!!!

Before you make a post like this, get your facts straight . We make up less than 12% of the population in the ENTIRE United States. We are not the largest percentage of poor people in this country.

Where do you live and with whom do you associate that you only see negative stereotypes? Geez, pick up an Essence, Jet, or Ebony magazine and you'll see articles written by intelligent people of African descent, as well as, articles about them - and I'm not referring to celebritites.

Honey, what the real concern is is that the media only wants to portray ignorance. Why do you think Hollywood is mesmerized by Tyler Perry. They can't believe that a black man has written, directed, produced, and starred in a movie about Mature, Independent, Loving, Intelligent, Articulate, Married African Americans! His movie opened with 21million - making more than George Clooney's movie.

Each one teach one. The next time you encounter an ignorant person, whether they be black, white, asian or latino, show them an alternative way of acting, by being positive yourself.

AND STOP GENERALIZING.

Also: I agree with some of the other posts. Are you really African American? Some of the comments you wrote just don't ring true. I don't know of any African American person, even people I've seen living in the ghetto that are raising their daughters to look like prostitutes.

Who are you really?

I agree with you, by all means, I do, but here's the problem with you saying that (especially on Yahoo Answers).

White racist and other people who are looking for reasons to dislike black people will use this as their fuel for their next racist rant. This is why most white racist quote Cosby and Chris Rock, because now they can point to a black person and say "See, even THEY see things the way I do!" And I don't like that very much.

I think that these things need to be said for and to black people only, as it is our problem as a community and we have to work to fix it.

Ok, I was kind of with you on the last question but it's becoming pretty clear to me that you have some issues. These are not things that blk people do. My parents are still married, I've never lived in the "hood," I don't sag my pants, I'm well educated (as are my parents), well traveled and I like to think that I have good sense.

It's not just blks who engage in these behaviors.

To speak on your last question - you're probably getting attitude because you're coming off as an uptight jerkoff who thinks that she's better than everyone else. Who thinks that, somehow, she's going to be viewed differently than everyone else and goes to great pains to separate herself from her race by being "whiter" than the "white kids." That is not something that is respected nor should it be.

You seem fairly young so you'll learn. Get to know some people who don't live in the burbs with you. I'm not trying to be condescending but you only understand when you leave your comfort zone. I used to think very similarly to you - stuck out in the burb with no other blk people and only the opinions of whts ringing in my ears all day long (they weren't racist exactly they were just insensitive shall we say). I'm so glad that someone woke me up.

Edit: just read your "old enough to be your parent" comment. I now have no sympathy for you whatsoever. You're just a bougie biatch.

I agree with you. I'm white but I grew up in a mixed neighborhood. It always shocked me that so many (not all) blacks kids who went to the same school as me, took the same classes and tests as me, spoke so poorly with a limited vocabulary. Since we received the same education you cannot say that it is the schools fault. It's obviously the fault of the parents who raised these children. As a small child you mimic everything your parents do and say. If you hear mom say "you is" instead of "you are" then that is the way you're going to learn to speak. Parents have to realize that it is a human life they are sculpting and the smallest thing can be a great detriment to their development.

You live in a culture that has come to devalue independent thinking, or what some call critical thinking. It's a culture that is defensive in nature, that seeks self-respect through means that avoid exposure to the pain of expected failure. It's a culture that has no confidence in the use of abstract ideas. It's a culture that deals with an inferiority complex by accepting that inferiority as a fact when it is simply an illusion.

It substitutes "ideas" gained from gangster rap and from old-time religion that paradoxically come together as a form of folk wisdom, yet serve to perpetuate an ignorance that stemmed from slavery yet now has become a self-imposed defensive posture.

You only act that way because of the way you were brought up and where, your a product of your environment just like they are, n the way they dress and talk has nothing to do with them being ignorant. Do you know how hard it is for a poor black male to get a good education, being poor period makes it hard but if your not white its almost impossible
