my son recently checked out a book from his school library called "Aunt Harriet's Underground Railroad in the Sky" by Faith Ringold. In the back of the book it says that the first accounts date from as far back as 1787.Tubman's own escape via the railroad came in 1849.It is a great book for kids with great illustration.
