I'm 20, I have a great career and I'm in college, I'm a future Marine (the main reason I haven't tried it yet) and I'm in general the innocent little boy in the corner. I went to CU Boulder for a year and didn't have trouble with it there, but my roommates now smoke constantly and even sell herb daily! I'm very intreigued and want to try it, will it ruin my life if I do? When I apply to the Marines after college they will have no way to tell right?

The decision is yours to make, and you are an adult capable of making your own decision.

Smoking pot, like all drugs (including alcohol and tobacco), is a risk that only you can decide to take. It has the potential to ruin your life if you become a pot head. However, if you are able to smoke responsibly and use it only occasionally, then it would only affect your life the same way the occasional misuse of alcohol would.

When you apply for the Marines, they will ask if you've smoked pot, but they will not be able to find out. They will give you a urine test, and pot is detectable in the urine for about 45 days for HEAVY users. These are users who use on a daily basis. One session alone with marijuana will stay in your urine for only about one week. The more constant your use, the longer it stays. The less frequent your use, the shorter it's detection period.

Some people try it and can take it or leave it. So it doesn't ruin their life. Some people try it, like it and smoke it off and on the rest of their life. Still it usually doesn't ruin their life. Others try it, like it, then go on to try stronger drugs. These people often ruin their lives. So it's a gamble. Only you can decide if you are willing to take the risk.

No...do not do it! It's a horibble thing to harm oneself. If you smoke weed..trust me it will affect your family so much! My brother would go get drunk with his friends and it was horrible and depressing because my parents would always get into fights with him. And if you have any people who are close to you you may ruin your relationship with them...even if they dont know for sure if you are smoking pot..even if they just suspect it.

Marijuana has triple more cancer causing agents than cigarettes. Meaning that you'll get a horrible tumor in the future and die, being blatantly honest. Moreover, it only takes one try to get addicted, go ahead and ruin your life sir.

It is not that big of a deal. I have done it off and on for thirty five years. If it has the opportunity to interfere with plans you have in life I would probably try it and that would be it.
