It's just a sign of the times; people expecting others to do their job of parenting and watching their children. Kids of six and seven should never be allowed more than a few yards from their house, especially since they live so close to a motorway.

At six and seven they should not have been out a night in the dark. The parents say they should have been home at 5pm but they were killed at 7.20pm so where were the parents for 2 hrs 20 mins???? They didn't exactly rush to find them. Its a tragic accident that could of been prevented.

I heard that story. The thing that got me mad was that they were saying it was too easy for the kids to get onto the motorway. Surely that isn't the point. Didn't anyone ever tell them about staying away from motorway or railways? People moan about Britain becoming a nanny state, but what choice do we have when things like this happen

They were out on the street playing, but scooted off down an embankment onto the motorway, probably being adventurous and unaware of the danger. Tragic for everybody.

Seems to me they were just two lads being lads...enjoying being young and happy.
It just a sad sad shame that there lives were cut short by a single mistake.
Let us hope that other children learn from what they hear about this sad situation.
May they rest in peace.
My heart, and the hearts of us all, go out to the family of the boys involved.

I know,I honestly find this very sad,I only really found out a few hours ago,so I still unsure of some of the details, but it's awful to hear, but the worse thing is I don't understand how they were out by themselves at that time of the night but may they rest in peace...

Ask the parents, children will be children, it's the parents job to look out for their children, sadly this is another case of the parents not looking after their children.

Forty years ago nobody would have batted an eye over such young children wandering around on their own. I did it all the time at that age...as did every other kid around.
Welcome to the nanny-state of the 21st century.
Of course, even at that young age, I knew better than to be out on a roadway.

I know. it's a disgrace. I know kids can't be watched 24/7 but I wonder how long exactly they were missing from home.
