When I eat crab legs,I grasp one and snap it at one end of the joint, snap it at the opposite end of the joint and pull gently. The meat will come out in one piece, dip it in butter(or not) and enjoy!Lobster is a little more difficult, but because of the expense, have the cook prepare it for you. They will crack the claws, split the tail and reassemble it on the plate for your ease of eating pleasure.(this will save your good clothes, too.)The crawfish is easy but messy and whoever is having the crawfish boil will be glad to show you how to peel the tail and snap the head off and suck out the good juices.Do not dress up for eating crawfish,it is finger food and with enough cold beer, who cares about getting any on you?I would not recommend oysters for a beginner.Try one from a friends plate to see if this is a good food for you.I am crazy about all seafood, but somethings are an acquired taste. If you are lucky and have grown up near the coast, they will all be the freshest. You could also try a seafood buffet and if something in particular is offending to you there are always other choices to fill up on.

yeah i have a different approach, i get a seprate bowl, i crack all the legs extracting the meat and place in bowl, so you have a bowl of crab meat then add the hot butter and there you go kind of a crab meat soup, its too much work to break some eat some. i hate that lol, hope that helps

Crab but not the others, I usually get lobster from Hibachi grills so there's no work required.
