I love you & I'm sorry, what can I do to help you get through this, is there anything I can do for you right now; all of these are good. It's not really so much about what you say, a good ol' hug goes along way; just being there is helpful. When you lose a loved one, you're so stunned it's hard to think & someone who cares just being there means more than the prettiest words anyone can say.

We all morn in our own ways. I lost my friend Sammy too. There's nothing you can say except I love you and I'm here for you and let us/them grieve.

Tell them to remember the good times they had together and the Great things about the person. How wonderful that it must have been to have them in their life. Be there if they need you!

Just be there for support and Know that you loved them. Hugs and just be a shoulder they can cry on.. The least said the better. Let them cry and cry with them.
