I would go for the X2 5000+ Black Edition (unlocked multipliers) then overclock it at stock voltage to 3.0 to 3.1Ghz. It will be a cheaper and more efficient alternative to the X2 6000+.

Overclocking is SAFE, especially at stock voltages and with good cooling. It is the heat that damages processors even if not overclocked.

i would probably go with the memory or the video card, but if you have the money i would get a better CPU fan or a better motherboard.

8800 gts graphics card . your processor is fast enough for most stuff .
