What's more important to you?

I am aware of the 9/11 incident, but there is still no evidence linking Iraq to 9/11. So therefore, I can't support a misguided war.

AS a veteran, i am more concerned with the troops...I have had 7 close and personal fellow soldiers die over there and for a war we cant win. There is no link between 9/11 and this war...i cant understand why people keep thinking this, lol, its ridiculous. I am tired of having friends die over there for a people who hate us passionately. One answerer said that we kill more of them than they kill us, then we will win...wrong...the more we kill, the more we breed to hate us and they multiply like roaches.

Now that I think about it, neither.

While the welfare of our troops shouldn't be ignored, they are soldiers, and soldiers by the very nature of thier duties get put into places and situations that greatly jeopardize thier wellfare. To put thier wellfare first would be to remove them from the role of soldier. Since it's a volunteer army, it would, at minimum, be presumptuous of me to take such a stance.

As to 'stabilizing' Iraq, I don't think it's possible in the usual sense of the word, and I wouldn't want to give an impossible goal as a priority. It might be possible to pacify Iraq - to end the fighting there through the brutal aplication of force - but I don't think that would be any more acceptable to the American people than is the current state of chaos and violence.

The obvious alternative - defeat - is also politically unacceptable.

Pretty sad.

I'm concerned with both. I have family in the military and its a constant background stressor, but although I believe nation building is a good thing, I feel that there are different avenues to do so. Things like combining military with humanitarian work combined with diplomacy. Oh wait, I read the question wrong, I don't support the war, but I'll give you my two cents anyway.

Great question. I'm the minority. I am for the war in Iraq because I love the fact that all the military people are over seas. It's great! My city hasn't been this safe sense the last time we went to Iraq. All the violent people get shipped over there. By the time they come back they have a new view on life. They calm down and quit being so violent. Wonderful system. Keep our streets safe! Support the war!

Think what you want but remember Saddam did not abide ny the UN sanctions so we made good on our promise. We are always concerned for our troops' welfare, that's a major given! I also would love to see the long-oppressed Iraqiis know what it is to have a free life.

Doesn't one lead to the other? Haven't the improvements in stabilization in Iraq led to the massive decline in troop casualties. I think we, that support the troops, want both.

1. America's best interest (protection of our borders from enemies, both foreign and domestic)
2. Our soldiers welfare
3. Stabilizing Iraq

why does it have to be one or the other? Not a war supporter, but really, this type of question has fallacious rhetoric and doesn't fool or persuade anyone older then 8. You can do better :)

Neither. Trying to save face over this fiasco is more important. "Losing" is not an option as far as the war supporters are concerned and any amount of American lives is worth the price.

I don't know. I was just told to support the troops and the war by Rush because he is a war hero.
