We were trying to find a hat, gloves and Halloween costume for her 6 month old daughter. She wouldn't try anything on her in the store, saying "I don't know where they've been." Will she get over this? It's so annoying!

At the same time, she smokes near the baby (outside) and also takes the baby to parties where lots of people are smoking. Messed up!

Most new moms get out of that whole, " Oh my gosh it has germs on it" within the first year. Once your child picks up a bug and eats.. you're kinda like.. well.. there's goes the cleanliness.. ! All jokes aside.. it would be hard for me not to say something about her smoking around the baby and taking the baby to parties like that! Just a little remark like, " Second hand smoke will harm that baby faster than the 'germs' on a hat". Good luck to you! You have every right to be concerned.

Instead of criticizing her because she is a new mom, will you please ask yourself why it's any of your concern what she does? She does not seem to neglect her child in any way and right now she is just being cautious as far as the halloween costume goes.

I don't know about her taking the baby to parties maybe you should be a good friend and suggest to her that she find a babysitter when she goes out like that. A party is no place for a baby.

Some state just put into law you cant smoke in a car with a child. Hopefully she at least lives there.
