I am auditioning for Chess at my High School in a few weeks, and I have really no idea what to sing.

Some suggestions were "How Glory Goes" (can't get individual song music though), "Shouldn't I be Less In Love with You". Also, I always have the option of "Stars," but that's been killed over and over again. I also liked "Private Conversation" from Sideshow.

I really want a few more helpful tips, though. Any help would be great! Oh, and my range is from an F to a G two octaves above that. Pretty much standard baritone.

OK, a lot of times you go with the same composer (and of course same character traits, musical style, etc.) and those two also wrote music and lyrics for Mamma Mia. So you could go with selections from that show, or Time Rice also wrote lyrics for; Aida, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Blondel, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Lion King. Other suggestions would be:

You're The Top, I's Delovely, or Be Like The Bluebird - Anything Goes
Late, Late Show - Do Re Mi
Make A Miracle or Once in Love With Amy - Where's Charley?
There is a Sucker Born Ev'ry Minute - Barnum
Uptown Girl - Movin Out
It's A Fish - The Apple Tree
Make Them Hear You - Ragtime
This Nearly Was Mine - South Pacific
Empty Chairs At Empty Tables - Les Miz (instead of Stars)
All You Can Do Is Wait - Anne & Gilbert

best of luck to you!
Marianne
