I've never read any of them, but I want to, and I can't decide which.
I normally prefer fantasy or romance books, and my favorite books are Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot, and Tithe by Holly Black.

Which is Shakespeare's best play is completely subjective. However, I'd have to say that As You Like It is a lot of fun.

If you like fantasy, you may enjoy A Midsummer Night's Dream that has mythological creatures. It's strange in some ways, but good.

I do also enjoy Much Ado About Nothing.

His tragedies are good, too, like Hamlet and Macbeth and Othello, etc. It's just my tastes, but I enjoy the comedies more.

I would say as a single play -- Hamlet or King Lear. But my favorite is the stretch of history plays from Henry the V through Richard the III, (which includes Henry the VI, parts 1,2 and 3).

I would start with MacBeth though, which is one of the shorter plays, and easier to follow than most of the others.

My favourites are "Macbeth", "Antony and Cleopatra", "A Midsummer Night's Dream" ... and "The Taming of the Shrew".
Oh, now I've remembered "The Tempest"!
O.K. , there are so many plays it is really hard to choose only one, but I'm going for "The Tempest" as the one to recommend to you - it has magic and fantasy and a romantic side plot, so it might appeal to your taste.
Although I personally love tragedy, and prefer "Macbeth" to "Hamlet", I don't think you'd like either much! (Although "Macbeth" does have three creepy witches, you might enjoy that part!)
Go on, try to read at least one, and enjoy a voyage of discovery!

If you enjoy romance, you will like "Much Ado About Nothing." It is my favorite! It's romantic, funny, yet also a tiny bit sad. You will love it! If you really enjoy fantasy, you'd probably like "A Midsummer Night's Dream." It has heaps of fantasy elements with a lot of romance thrown in for good measure.

Good luck and enjoy. Shakespeare is a delight!
