I cant ever get the appropriate general ed classes. Theres too many people ahead and the waiting list is 2 years long. I need these credits to get into a real college. lam missing an algebra 2 credit from high school. At this rate I wont be able to get throught his college for at least ten years or so. I want a 4 year degree in 4 years . I mean WTF? , I mean no 4 year college will let me in, I got a 3.5 gpa NHS.NTHS,NSHSS and an Eagle scout. THey keep telling me to get a 2 year degree and transfer, now I cant even do that. Seriously HOw do I force a school to take me? I mean give them no choice Iam willing to throw my life away to get in I worked so hard all my life. Oh btw way Iam a substitute teacher and guess what long term assignment I taught for ... algebra, this is bullshit. I mean I really want to get a degree. This is my third year of trying. Who do I go to to get me in ? Can i fix this waiting list problem? Who's bones do i break?

A simplified version
a) How can I push people off the waiting lists to get my way into these required courses? if not
b) What do I need to do to force it down their throat to take me into a 4 year school?
also,
altogether to get the required courses these schools want ,its not just one class that takes three years to get in, its a total cumulative for all the classes and it would take 3 years worth of waiting to actually have a shot at them.

also, I have finally swolled my pride and would be willing to do this through community college although it so far is doing nothing but harming my future.
This is not fair. A kid with a GED got in over me , why?
3rd year of trying and just recently decided to chance it with the community colelge route.

Is It even worth pursuing college anymore?

Oak the Bolds, I find it a deep shame that you would result to personal attacks on a community Q+A. lam locked in a position for the past three years, I cant exactly be calm about the subject, I have tries college after college after college after college and it put a pretty big dent in my pocket expenses with doing nothin but applying. Iam doing your sold called "whining" cause it is so frustrating to get direct answers and to be honest its a natural human frustration. I am looking for attempted direct answers not, the beat around the bush type were everyone says " go to community college" or in this case " wait ten years". An Eagle scout has to live by the 12 points of the scout law at all times and lam not failing that, so don't stup me out as a fool I know my boundaries, and do something admirable, give direct answers instead of personally attacking users on yahoo. You know theres no need for that. I admit lam frustrated, but also An Eagle scout does not let injustice pass him.

What I mean by injustice is not an innocent punished but by the notion that too many don't want me in school, lam analyzing as well to see whether or not lam doing the wrong and ill moral thing in seeking college. Constantly the more I try at it and the more aggressive and less ethical I become, In all honesty I feel like a hungry wolf willing to rip anybody apart to eat.
Look I have been pushed out of classes, carelessly mislead by counselors, In order to play the game in college here I have no choice but to walk over people, or get walked on , like what has and has been happening to me. I graduated from a tech center and lack a math credit and have been trying to make up for it. Look humor me, tell me how you would respond to this, cause Ill tell you after 3 years of trying, I know no college will take me except my own local community one< I wont even get accepted in other community colleges, just one. SO someone tell me who do I go to to end this cycle.?

You are experiencing what many students experience at all kinds of institutions, community college or university, but especially at community college. There are not enough sections of a class, you have to wait to get into classes, classes are not offered when you want/need to take them. Hang in there, it'll work its self out.

But I don't know why you can't get accepted into a 4 year institution. You don't need an associates degree to get a bachelors degree. Who is telling you this? Start applying to 4 year schools, pretty much now.

I don't know of any community college that has a two year waiting list for a class. Students register for classes at the end of each semester prior to the start of the next semester. If you can't get into a class, that means you are not registering on time. Are you saying that you can't even get into the community college or you just can't take the class?

You need to talk to a counselor to get you in and find out what is stopping you from getting in. I have never heard of anyone being locked out of a community college because their program is so huge that no students can get in.

The only reason I can think of is that you have some locks on your record that doesn't allow you to take any classes because you haven't paid for previous classes or something of that nature.

I believe that there is something else to the issue than just not letting you in. Do you have a high school degree at least? Are you meeting registration and application deadlines?

It is definitely worth going to college. I'm sure that you have not exhausted all of your options. Have you looked at online courses through the community college (not online "universities" such as University of Phoenix)? Many community colleges offer some of their lower level or general education courses online.
You cannot force a school to take you, or "kick" other people off of a waiting list. Have you tried going and talking to the admissions people in person, and talking to them in a calm, professional manner while also listening to them? What are their suggestions? If it is only a matter of getting into one course, go talk to the course instructor and see what they have to say. Sometimes the instructors can allow additional students in to the courses.
Good luck!

Still whining eh Matthew B?

Lots of 4-year schools will admit you, you just haven't tried them all yet. They take G.E.D. students, remember?

Face the fact that you aren't going to get a B.A or B.S. in four years. It may take you 10. If you really want the sheepskin, do what it takes following the rules. You've waited three years to just start now, so unless you plan to take 140 hours of credit work in the next 12 months, forget the 4-year plan. It is possible to earn a B.A. in three years, if you attend all sessions of school. Whining on the internet isn't going to get you there, sticking with it will.

Please stop saying you are an Eagle Scout; it is embarrassing to those of us who are.
