It seems that marriage is dying and men and women don't care, anymore.

Good question. Yet, the statistics show less divorces but less marriages. Maybe we are all turning ****.

Here's a sampling of some of the most recently available statistics on marriage and divorce in the United States of America:

There were approximately 2,230,000 marriages in 2005 -- down from 2,279,000 the previous year, despite a total population increase of 2.9 million over the same period.

The divorce rate in 2005 (per 1,000 people) was 3.6 -- the lowest rate since 1970, and down from 4.2 in 2000 and from 4.7 in 1990. (The peak was at 5.3 in 1981, according to the Associated Press.)

The marriage rate in 2005 (per 1,000) was 7.5, down from 7.8 the previous year.

In 2004, the state with the highest reported divorce rate was Nevada, at 6.4 (per 1,000). Arkansas was a close second, with a divorce rate of 6.3, followed by Wyoming at 5.3. The District of Columbia had the lowest reported divorce rate, at 1.7, followed by Massachusetts at 2.2 and Pennsylvania at 2.5. (Figures were not complete for California, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Louisiana, or Oklahoma.)

Conflict or anger itself does not have to cause an irreparable rift between partners. With good communication skills and a shared commitment to a marriage, even these are surmountable. How to save your marriage https://tr.im/r0CYI

However, at that point where one partner is at the brink of abandoning the relationship, how can the remaining partner save their marriage? If you are at the point where your spouse has asked for a divorce, what can you do?

You must realize first that, you do have a choice. Often, when confronted by a crisis, we find ourselves backed into a corner thinking we have no choice in the matter. How can we change the situation when it involves another person's feelings or decisions? While we cannot, must not and in no way manipulate, blackmail or threaten our partner into changing their mind, we can actually control how we react to the situation. If anything, you must realize that you still have control over yourself. You have the opportunity to look inward and take responsibility for your own feelings and actions and even have the chance to take personal inventory of what your partner is trying to tell you. Are there points in your marriage that must be changed? If so, respond appropriately and proactively.

Well, if I had to risk so much when marrying, such as having to pay for spousal support if I make it better than him because I am more hardworking, then I would definetly not get married in the US. Changing the laws, maybe more people would be less deathly afraid of it.

Well "Naughty Princess"...glad to see that some one has some marital values left huh?

No it's not dying, people are just freaking stupid and rush into a huge commitment that most aren't mature enough to handle now a days.

As long as adultery is considered worse than divorce, marriage will continue to be weak in America.
