How does multiplying by a constant affect the slope of a function?

f(x) = x^3

It simply multiplies the slope by the constant making it steeper. If the constant is negative it changes the direction of the slope from rising to falling and vice-versa.

for f(x) = x^3 the slope is 3x^2.
