Real news services are mostly fair and balanced. If you stay away from the tabloids (like Fox) and get your news from a variety of mostly unbalanced news services (like CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, NY Times, etc.), then you should get a pretty fair picture.

The big difference between news sources and Fox is that news agencies try to be unbiased while Fox does not.

But you cannot win. Any news service that is unbiased will be immediately attacked by the right wing propaganda machine as being liberal. Stephen Colbert made fun of this when he pointed out that to right wingers, "reality has a well-known liberal bias". Basically, you have to consider the source of information and use your brain. If you do that, you will do better than many.

CNN's Ted Turner married traitor Jane Fonda, aka Hanoi Jane, so don't look to that station.

I wish I could say PBS, but since they get a mass amount of funds from the fundamentalist Islamics, they won't put on documentaries that Fox will. As of recent, here's one they refused -
