Health experts say that we are supposed drink 2 litres of water a day. I must say that when I start drinking water, I can't seem to stop.

Could I be drowning my system with too much water?

Thank you

Drinking an excessive amount of water actually causes you to lose minerals. You only need to drink about 64, half a gallon, ounces a day. Also, if you drink too much water in a short period of time you could actually die. In Sacramento a few months back there was a radio station holding a contest which had contestants competing against each other to see who could drink the most water without peeing. One woman died when she got home later in her sleep. Her brain basically swelled up. She had told friends that she was going to sleep because her head hurt.

Apparently the folks here on YA don't care whether you drink yourself to death, but something about death by chocolate really struck a nerve

You could be giving your kidneys a hard time, excreating needed mineral and salts and running the risk of developing renal failure, so not drowning but doing harm for sure.

Too much water is not good at all. It will damage the intestinal epithelium and put your kidneys to work to keep minerals on board.
