I wanted a G.I. joe, but my parents gave me a Ken doll and told me to use my imagination. "Dammit, you guys (parents) I'm not gay!" I responded.

I wanted a Chatty Cathy doll and I dreamed that Santa put her under my bed and when I woke up she would be there. It was so real. When I woke up she was not there and we did not even have a Christmas tree we were so poor. My mom tried she made me a dress and my brother a shirt that matched my dress and I will never forget her crying because that was all she had to give. I am now thankful for just having the memory!

I always wanted a slot car track. You know one of the cool ones that was huge, lit up and the cars switched lanes and the track went up the wall. Instead I got the cheap ones that was small and was just an oval. I'm not complaining though my parent didn't have much and were living within their means, besides the neighbors always got that kind of stuff and I got to play with theirs.

Yes, that is precisely why I had kids and they now own every toy that I wanted plus every toy that they have asked for....in retrospect, not a great idea..do you know how many pieces are involved with legos and polly pockets??!!! :-)
