I don't think I could be induced into relaxing enough. I don't like to feel like I'm not in control. I know it is used to help solve crimes and to help in stop smoking, losing weight etc.

I know what you mean about not being in control but I went to counseling after the ex left marriage counseling and he did hypnotized me and it worked! I never felt so relaxed as I was after that day. I think I was able to go under because I knew him well and he knew my family so I felt safe. I don't think I could be hypnotized by a stranger in a large group or anything...I mean the guy could tell you to go and do something crazy...right?! Smile!

I was treated to past life regression as a birthday gift about 5 years ago...the first session took 50 minutes to hypnotize me...and yes, it is a combination of loss of control (don't worry, you are in full control at all times) and arrogance on my part (no one can hypnotize me!)...but, once under (you are perfectly aware of everything going on, for it is a mild form of hypnotizing, not the deep stuff that is pulled on stages), and suggestions are given....the next session, I was under within 5 minutes and the journey started. IT was an amazing journey, but truthfully, a bit boring...it was like watching bits and snatches of movies, nothing really personal, no involvement with the scenes...so after 5 sessions, I quit going. But I did learn one hell of a lot that explained so much about this life..that was the amazing part of it. I had no expectations, no one was going to suggest to me anything, that was for sure..and they didn't....what came from those sessions was not life altering, but certainly confirmed my beliefs in life and death. I already knew what I learned, but I was surprised by some of the people who travel with me...I shouldn't have been, but I was. I didn't realize until very recently just how attached my spirit is to one of those people who travel with me. IT has been a serious lesson that I will not forget.
Love and peace, Goldwing

Years ago I did do that, before I was a Christian, and I would never do that again for any reason. When you are hypnotized, you turn your will over to the hyptonist and you will do anything for them. They say you wont do something you know is wrong. BUllonie, they just have to tell you it is ok now and you will. It is evil. We arent to give our will to anyone but God to do His will. PPl have been hypnotized and realized years later the evil thoughts that were placed deep inside and stayed there for years causing problems.
Please dont give in to this. I did it for weight less and to be less stressful. and yes I was hypnotized, more than once. I began to see only a little bit of results, but I realized what I had done, and I renounded all of it to the Lord.
Its evil stuff, dont mess with it, no matter what they tell you. Ask God to help you and HE will with ANYTHING... Just believe, pray and wait , expecting answers.

I did not think I would be a good subject, but I went to a doctor that specialized it hyponosis. I was finally hypnotized. I was never out of control, but I would also never allow myself to be hypnotized again. I am a spiritually sensitive person and I will not leave myself open like that again.

I have tried being hypnotized and they could not get me under. I guess I don't like losing control and just could not relax enough to go under.

I always wondered that myself and yesterday I had my first opportunity.

I am in therapy for a variety of reasons and I had a session of regression therapy. I was hypnotized and brought back to earlier times in my life (not past lives) to try to learn the reasons for some of my emotions and fears.

It was rather strange but I actually felt better after.

I tried it three times. Once for nail biting and twice for smoking. I don't think I was ever "under." At any rate, I still smoke, but in the last few years I have been able to control my nail biting.

If anything I would consider doing a past life regression session (s). I don't know if I would ever believe those things that may happen during the session though. I would not know if they were real or just a compilation of memories and imagination..like dreams.

I have been hypnotized several times. Ususally for entertainment purposes only. A friend of mine had a license in it and used to take me back to my past lives. He video taped it for me to see. My voice actually changed and so did my facial expressions. I don't know if I believe it or not. I just relaxed and let him take me wherever.

Wish I could have been like GW, but I was like the others who said it was unsuccessful for them. I was told I was very "uptight"....duh, that's one of the reasons I was there!

Sageseeker.....maybe we've mellowed out enough to be good candidates. Like you, I'd like to quit smoking (again...but for good this time!)) and anything that would help is worth a shot.
