im trying to change my screen resolution and the bar wont move up neither will the voulume configuration in sounds need help please tell me what i can do

You need to update your drivers, sounds to me like your graphic (video) card and sound card drivers are missing or outdated. You need to update them to restore functionability to your devices.

First thing you need to do is to make sure that you are using the correct driver for your video and sound cards. If the video card is using the base VGA driver, the resolution might not go past 800x600, however, if you install the correct driver, it will give you the full range of the card.

You are dragging the cursor, aren't you -- not just clicking on it.
Position the pointer on the slider arrow and left-click down. Hold it down as you drag the slider.
