will it burn out the motor. Im asking because one day it came on and warm air was blowing out of it. I do have cental air conditioning. is it possible that i may have electric heat?

Look at your heater, if you see a gas line going to it, it is a gas heater and the label inside the cabinet should note that as well. Most gas furnaces are designed to not come on when there is no gas supply, or no flame to prevent release of carbon monoxide. Running your fan without the burner on won't burn it up though, usually is is the same fan that blows the AC air.

The motor will not burn out.
You have a gas or electric heater , not both.
Check the thermostat and see what it is set at.
