Walking in to the hospital to visit my husband only to be told he had just died, leaving me with 3 kids, aged 10, 6 and 1. That was 25 years ago, and although I have had other relationships since, none of them has come close. So yes, that really did affect my life in a BIG way!! I'm actually pretty well on top of things, but still miss him.

This last Sunday afternoon while in Sacramento, consoling my 2 Nieces about the terminal illness of their Mother (in the hospital) my DH called to say we were on Evacuation Alert because of the fire. 25 minutes later my Sister in law died. Knowing my DH wouldn't know what to pack for the evac and him not listening to me and his being cumsee cumsaw my being overcome with the situations at hand, made me truly wonder why the power at B gives so much to some to deal with at once. By what grace is that? Why doesn't he spread it around a bit more? Life just isn't fair, is so very truthful.

When my gran died. I was very close to her and it was the first person i'd ever lost, I was only 14. And it was all so sudden, she went into hospital for a scan and died the following day. That was when I stopped believing in God and became an athiest. She was such a wonderful person that if there had been a God he would not have taken her away, she was too young, it wasn't her time.

Besides watching my aunt take her last breath as she lost her battle with cancer less than a month after my wedding, or seeing my sister unconscious and near death due to an aneurysm 2 weeks after delivering my nephew, and my mom having a heart attack on account of my sister's condition, I would say it would be :

Finding out I had cancer -- it was devastating. Although it was treated almost 10 years ago, I never felt the same way about life again. Something inside me died and never came back...
