I might ask them to explain their reasons. Then I may break down their reasons point by point in order to eliminate any misunderstanding.

if it bothered you that much that they said it, then you probably are in denial....if you werent in denial, you wouldve just been like, meh whateva and forgot about it pretty quick

smile and tell them 'right back at you' i never worry about what someone thinks .as a adult i am my own person and i do not need for anyone to educate me, or to tell me how to live............it works for me
