No one has the right to pick someones friends, so you have to decide if you like her enough to forget about this other person. Because someone is in a room, doesn;t mean that you have to talk to them, but you can be a bigger person than the other one and not be rude. That only makes it uncomfortable for everyone around you. There can only be an issue if you are part of it. If something comes up, swivel on your foot and walk away, you will impress a lot of people if you don't lower your self to fight.
