when you are trying to have a baby, but you try to conceive the day after your period how come it didnt work?

me and my boyfriend had sex the day after my period was over and he came in me. well 2 weeks later we checked to see if i was pregnant and i wasnt...in that 2 weeks though, we kept trying...will it eventually work? and why didnt it work the first time..and also whats the best tips for when your trying to conceive?

when you have a period, it flushes your eggs out. try 2 weeks before and 5 days after... and if it doesnt work then the best thing to do is give up your body will stress itself out if u try to hard or two long, it will stop producing eggs. good luck

You have to have sex when you are ovulating. Most woman ovulate about 14 days after the start of their periods - but that is only an average. You can actually ovulate at anytime during your cycle (except during your period).
You need to find out when you are ovulating and have sex around that time. Conception does NOT take plae right during sex. Sperm can live inside the woman for up to 5 days so it is important to have the sperm there and ready and waiting. Timing is everything.
I am going to give you my standard answer.......go get a book called "taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler. It will help you truly understand your body and cycle and erase all the myths that women beleive about their bodies.I believed all the ovulation & conception myths that are floating around here until we tried for a year with no luck. My doctor recommended the book and it worked the very next month! It turned out my timing was wrong and that I don't ovulate in the middle of my cycle like most women.

Your cycle actually starts the day you start your period. Most women, on average ovulate about 10 days into their cycle - so depending on how long your period lasts, it could be 3-4 days, or more, after your period ends before you ovulate.

Since that's the average, you may ovulate a day or two sooner, or a day or two later. And BTW - a home pregnancy test is more likely to be accurate if you wait until after your next cycle is supposed to begin. If you only gave it 2 weeks, you wouldn't have had enough pregnancy hormone to build up in your system for a test to be able to read it.

There are however old wives tales ways to keep the sperm inside like standing on your head after sex, or not urinating right away afterwards. Your probably going to do much better however, if you A) first off make certain both of you are ready physically and emotionally, able to conceive go to the doctors for an exam. B) they can answer your questions much better than here will.C) there are over the counter fertility items that can let you know when your best timing to try to conceive is,it is based on your body temperature also many things can come into play for both yourself and your lover. But please please, be very responsible when considering becoming pregnant there are so many factors involved it is a very big decision that will affect your life,your lovers life whether he is your spouse,boyfriend or just a significant other, and of course THE FUTURE CHILD'S LIFE. This is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT. Always keep that in mind before you jump right into trying to become pregnant. I have two children of my own spaced 11 years apart.And I love them both dearly. Well seems like you need to get educated. How old are you?? Sure your ready for a baby. You will need to read up on ovulation and if your determined to have a baby just keep trying it doesn't always work the first time. Wait till you actually miss your period to take a test

Wow. Sweetie, you need to read up on conception a little bit. The sperm must fertilize an egg. You only drop an egg while you are ovulating. You need to figure out when you are ovulating. Have sex on or around that date and you should get pregnant. These things take time sometimes......
