every time i go on the net lately, its just been closing down after a few minutes. a message comes up sayin 'microsoft internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close'. whats wrong, because its getting veeery annoying. :-( please help

About this debugging business, is it risky?

i would restart OS but, i dont think i got the CD... :-s

Can be quite a number of things. If you get an error code you can check on the Microsoft site for details.

when it happened to me recently it turned out to be a new Adobe add on that was causing the problem.

Go To Tools/Manage Add-Ons. Disable all your ad ons then enable them 1 by 1 until you get the problem. Can be very tedious....

I am assuming you have anti spyware like windows defender or ad-aware2007 and that you have already eliminated the possibility of a virus. if you don't have an anti virus program get AVG Free. it consistently out performs the paid programmes. I switched to it years ago after Norton kept crashing my computer..... Hmm that's something else to check!

Time to back up your stuff and re-install your Operating System. You can try debugging, but chances are pretty good you have no idea how to do that or what it means. Restart the machine with the operating system disk in the drive and elect to reinstall.

had the same prob myself just after reinstalling windows and updating. dont think its a major problem but uninstalling your web explorer and reinstalling it might help

into Internet option
double click the Internet you use and see if there is a time limit set

maybe a virus corruped files run running virus scan if that fail might have to reinstall windows..
