My AP chemistry teacher made a huge mistake when recording one of my grades. When I really got a 15/20, she accidentally put it as 73/20. This raised my grade SIGNIFICANTLY. With the 73/20, my grade was 97%. But with the 15/20, my grade dropped to an 85%. I mean, if I hadn't told her, she would never have noticed, but me, being the moral, honest person I am...I actually went and told her, and now my grade dropped.
I mean, I guess I did the right thing. But what exactly would you have done?

You did the right thing. The error would have been noticed eventually in all likelihood, but by bringing it to notice YOURSELF, you gained credibility. That is something no amount of money can buy.

Good for you!! I hope I would have done the same thing you did, because it was the right thing, but I'm not completely sure. When I was your age, I definitely wouldn't have said anything. I guess I've made progress considering now I'd at least think about it and would feel bad if I didn't! Maybe, since you were so honest and all, your teacher would be willing to give you some extra credit work or something to raise your grade a little more?

I would have told for the simple reason that even though there was a chance the teacher might never notice the mistake , I would always know I did not earn it. It is easier to fool other people but you can't fool yourself.Give yourself a pat on the back for doing the right thing.

Congrats, not many people would do that. Besides the fact that you were already passing, I don't see why your even saddened. Once before my Algebra AP teacher made a mistake and switched my daily grades to major and vice-versa. I would have failed with my actual major grades, but I told her anyway that my grades were wrong. I ended up passing the class that year too.

first of all , i complement u for being a honest person and the grade, i know it's pretty tough having that. but deal with it. I got a 35 on my test and got a 88% and i almost got killed by my parents because i am an A student. so i had to deal with alot of punishments. I would have done you what u had done.

I would've told too.
And in an AP class a B is like an A anyway.
That's not a bad grade at all, just keep up the good work

how can you have a 73/20??
i think you done the right thing, im sure someone would have found out eventually, i think its just wishful thinking on your part that perhaps no one would have noticed if you didn't say anything!

I would have done the same thing. Way to go. It's hard to be honest and people will encourage you not to be most of the time but you will find life will be a little easier if you are...

If your belief is to be honest then I respect that. I was a problem child so knowing my childhood self I wouldn't have told. I am glad to see that there are still good morals being practiced these days.

well in some of my classes if the teacher makes a mistake like that its their fault and they let u keep the extra points. but i probably would have at least told the teacher because its more than just a couple points
