PROBLEM 1:

x + 3/2 = 29 - 2x

I like to multiply to get rid of fractions, so multiply both sides by 2:
2x + 3 = 48 - 4x

Now add 4x to both sides (gets x terms on left)
2x + 4x + 3 = 48
6x + 3 = 48

Then subtract 3 from both sides (gets numbers on right)
6x = 48 - 3
6x = 45

Divide both sides by 6
x = 45/6
x = 7 3/6
x = 7½

PROBLEM 2:

Not sure on your exact equation. Is it this?

(3x + 1)/4 = (5 - 2x)/6

You have a 4 and a 6 in the denominators. The lowest common denominator would be 12. So multiply both sides by 12:

3(3x + 1) = 2(5 - 2x)

Simplify:
9x + 3 = 10 - 4x

Add 4x to both sides:
13x + 3 = 10

Subtract 3 from both sides:
13x = 7

Divide both sides by 13:
x = 7/13

1) x + 3/2 = 29 -2x
3/2 = 58/2 -3x
0 = 55/2 - 3x
3x = 55/2
6x = 55
x = 55/6

2) 3x+1/4 = 5-2x/6
12(3x + 1/4 = 5 - 2x /6)
36 x + 3 = 60 -4x
40x =57
x = 57/40

Puzzling carried wrong in the problems

x +3/2 = 29 -2x
... first group like terms together, and convert fraction to same denominator;
x - 2x = 29 -3/2 = 58/2 - 3/2
now do the math;
-x = 55/2
x = -27 1/2 ("twenty seven and a half")

3x+1/4=5-2x/6
... group like terms;
3x + 2x/6 = 5 - 1/4
... common denominators;
18x/6 +2x/6 = 20/4 - 1/4
... do the math
20x/6 = 19/4
... now we will cross-multiply
4*20x = 19*6
80x = 114
x = 114/80 = 1 34/80 = 1 17/40
x = 1 17/40 ("One and seventeen fortieths")

Do you want to "solve" of "slove?"

Both equations have fractions. First step is to multiply every term by LCD to eliminate fractions.

Multiply through using 2 on the first and 12 on the second.

This gives: 2x + 3 = 58 - 4x which you solve by adding and subtracting until you get x terms on the left and numbers on the right.

The second leads to 36x + 3 = 60 - 4x. Solve as mentioned above.
