I was quoted 195 dollars to move from suburb to inner city for a one bedroom. Is this good? Waste of money?

Sounds like a fair price. I moved a sparsely furnished 3 bedroom house last month for $460 plus $40 in tips.

Most local move companies charge about 90-100 per hour. for 2 guys and a truck.

What are we talking here, a 20 mile move? That would be a really good price where I live, although I would personally just get a few buddies together and buy them a few brews afterward.

I would use the money to put a trailer hitch on my car if I didn't have one and rent a trailer and buy beer or other stuff for buddies to help. Should end up about half that amount and you have a hitch on your car.

$195 is fairly cheap, I'd say. But check references. Most cities have "Two Guys and a Truck" which is a franchise, they are fairly cheap I have heard.

It sounds reasonable to me. You could try to do it yourself but you may need to rent a truck. You could ask for help from friends and family. You could take them out to dinner or make them dinner.

It sounds very reasonable to me. You'll spend at least that much in gas, pizza and beer if you try to get your friends to help; and with your friends, your stuff won't be insured.
