Hi all,

midwife says that if I bounce up and down on a 'fit ball' it might bring on labour!
I've been doing this now for half an hour and my uterus feels a bit tighter.
I'm over due by 3 days,
has nayone else tried this?????

Hi there,
I can sympathise though it seems like a distant memory now (my daughter is 2 months old).
We live on top of a mountain which has a dirt track road, i got my husband to drive up it fast to enhance the bumps.
The day i went into labour though, i ate a whole fresh pineapple in the afternoon and that evening went for a walk (at quite a good pace, about 4km). I'm certain it was the walk that did it, my waters broke that night.
Reading your question has brought it all back, it's so exciting. Good luck, i hope you don't have too much longer...........

I used one of those birthing balls when I was in labour with my 2nd child, It did help to speed things up as the bouncing combined with gravity helps the baby to move down faster.

Not sure about using one to get your labour started? I would imagine that it would work in the same way.... might try it myself Ive got 3 weeks left till bump no.3 comes out and I cant wait lol !!!

Just check the ball that you are using to make sure that it is an anti burst' one you dont want it going pop mid bounce! good luck!x

Bouncing on a fit ball didnt help me very much however if you keep active and do what ever fells comfortable for you genually helps but dont tire yourself out too much because you will need as much of that energy for labour Good luck

Try smelling all the aromatherapy oils that you have to avoid during pregnancy. The reason ?they can bring labour on.
pre birth-YalangYalang
sandelwood
rosewood
clary sage(helps with labour pains)
Birth- Freankincence
Lavender
Neroli

dont smell them all together just read the instructions or look up on the net which each one dose and how you should use them. They will chill you out as well.
Bouncing on a large ball might help but that baby will come when its ready.
congrats and good luck(ive done it twice and im nearly due my third )OWTCH.

It can help get the baby into position but I've not heard that it brings on labour

Best methods for bringing on labour is raspberry leaf tea, walking lots and sex (sperm contains oxytocin which is a hormone they use to bring on labour in induction)

Good luck with it

It might help - as might walking. What I did was take castor oil - that worked everytime! I used it with 3 of my kids.
Take 4 oz and wash down with some soda or something to cut the oiliness. It's awful - but it works. It tricks your body into thinking it's in labor because it's a laxative and sometimes labor brings on diarrhea on it's own...
It will give you the worst intestinal cramps, but it's completely safe. My midwife told me about it. It only works if your body is ready for labor, which I'm sure you have to be getting very close! I went into labor within hours of cleaning out my system. It worked EVERY time!
Good Luck!! Best Wishes!

I used a ball once labour had started as I was slow to progress. The ball helped to speed things up.

Good luck!!

your uterus feels tighter because of contractions. Wlak, walk and walk and when you've walked... walk some more. I had my son four months ago and that is the BEST thing ever. I always said that I wanted to advise someone who is having a baby to walk b/c it's the absolute best!
