My beater 1990 BMW 318i has caused me no problems in the 6 months I've had it. Then when I tried to start it when it was low on gas, it wouldn't start. I assumed it just needed gas so I put in 10 liters (I'm stationed in Germany now). Still didn't worlk. Someone suggested I check the spark plugs and replace the fuel filter. I couldn't find the sparkplugs, so I changed the fuel filter. With the help of A LOT of starter spray in the air intake, the engine started up but quickly died?

Anyone know what is wrong with my car?

I think you have air in your fuel lines after you changed out your filter. The stalling should go away after you let the lines fill up with fuel.

Look at step 8.

Don't mess with the computer. I don't know where some of these ideas come from. If it starts with starting fluid that would point to a fuel supply problem. You need to get the fuel pressure checked. Don't change the fuel pump until you test first. If this is a fuel injected car you may have air in the system also. Don't mess with spark plugs as the spark is apparently working. Fuel supply is your problem
