Now I know that cheating has been around since the dawn of mankind. It will never go away. I KNOW THAT! Its just more talked about now. I know. But for the sake of a conversation. . .

Do you feel that cheating has become as big of a problem we're always hearing about? Do you feel that people are really stepping out on their spouses and partners more now?

And do you think that those who do. . . even really care?

I'm not afraid of giving my opinion so here goes.I don't know if cheating is on the increase or if it is that topics such as cheating are talked about more freely.I think there are alot of good relationships out there in the real world. Most people have some things in common. Most people want a good job, a home, a family and friends amd good health. Most people are content with their life and their successes,no matter how big or small..Some people want to have more.Perhaps it is the thrill of the illicit affair, the need to satisfy their own needs that drives people to cheat. Some will find some real or percieved flaw in their partner which "drove them to cheat".This allows them to validate their behaviour and foist the responsibility onto their partner.Good relationships require a lot of effort from both parties, they don't just happen. It seems that people are willing to throw in the towel at the first sign of difficulty. They don't realize that relationships, both good and bad, have their ups and downs.I think the media promotes bad relationships as well.Look at the celebrity news and it is mostly a merry-go-round of partners and then on to the next.

Yes, I agree that cheating has been around as long as man has been around. The only reason it's being heard about more often and in bigger volumes is because of the internet, chat room, discussion groups like this.

Its also because of this type of communication, it gives more and more opportunities to set up a clandestine little tryst with someone else, for however long.

Do the cheaters ever care? Yes and no. Yes, because they got caught and are gonna have to deal with the fallout and consequences. No in the heat of the moment.

No one is holding a gun to their heads so it's ultimately up to each individual and their choices. Personally, I think it takes a VERY STRONG man/woman to not cheat.
