Yes, I am sure it will.

I have a desk top PC and a laptop Macbook.

They have different uses, but Apple do offer a free trial of Microsoft Office with Word, and also Windows, if you really feel that it is needed.

I guess that would mean that you could send files between them, but do note that some users of Microsoft are discussing incompatibility between different versions of Microsoft Word. This may, of couse, reflect on their individual understanding rather than a Microsoft incompatibility. This may not be an issue.

This Apple is great, and much easier to use than the PC, although it took a few days to understand how to use it. Possibly due to my slow and limited thinking ability.

yes it will be. Tomorrow they are relaeasing Mac OS X Leopard, which is the biggest update yet. Also, Microsoft is releasing a new version of Microsoft Office for Mac, maybe tomorrow, but in the near future so that it is optimized for Intel Processors.

Mac has its own Office and, in addition, you can get OpenOffice for Mac, which is a very decent free replacement for Microsoft Office and can create all Microsoft Office documents completely compatible with Microsoft Office hither and yon.
