This bill would require approx. 22,000,000 new smokers, to generate the tax to fund this program. Willing to light up for the Children, If not the Government will have to absorb the cost if passed?

YES ABSOLUTELY. It's ridiculous to reject medical care for children. The President should be ashamed of himself for vetoing, but that just lands on the mountain of other things the man should be ashamed of. Heartless trust-fund baby that he is.

Nope. No way. 25 year old 'children' and the children of those wealthy enough to afford medical insurance but chose not to are NOT the ones that the Schip program was intended for. I'm all for helping poor kids, as is President Bush when he agreed to EXPAND the program. But I am not willing to pay the insurance tab for rich kids in private schools as this bill was designed to do. No way. Once again the democrats are showing themselves to be unbelievably irresponsible with MY tax dollars.

I just think it's a little depressing how this is a health issue for children when we're wasting 1.2 trillion dollars on the war.

it would take about 35 million for this program...and thats like a drop in a bucket compared to the 12 million a day we spend on the war.

if the country is rich enough to spend 1.2 trillion on the war, then surely we are able to provide a health insurance program for the children who live in this country. this is all getting a little ridiculous actually

Did you forget that the Republican Congress under Clinton originally passed SCHIP? Dam Republicans. Spending my hard earned tax dollars!

We need the government to govern and to stay out of our pockets. We pay way to much in taxes. Let them take money out of the millions they get from special interest groups. Peace

I love how people complain that it was shot down and say it was Bush. It died in the Senate. The Senate is run by the Democrats. Please people do some research on the bill before you start complaining.

Yes.

That's a false fact on the bill. The revenue projections were realistic.

The majority of Republican voters are in favor of the bill, but apparently their senators aren't listening.

That's great. We will need more smokers which of course will mean more sick people thus requiring yet more smokers to pay for this. Typical of liberal logic. No I wouldn't support it........
