Your husband must be very immature. Your child is not his Mary Sue fanfic character.

Hmm, that's tough. If you are looking for unique names for a boy..I will try and help you out.
Cassius (cash-ous): I first heard this name on TV. I really liked the sound of it--it's different. In modern times, Cassius Clay was the birth name of the heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali.
Calvin: It's my brothers name and I really like it. It's not to extravagant so I don't know if your husband will like it, haha. It's uncommon; but to an extent where your not just like "uhh sorry, can you repeat your name?"
Dallas: Ok so it's a place in Texas--but it's a pretty neat name. I'm sure he will get many compliments with a name like this!
Julian: My favorite name! I absolutely love this name and I really couldn't tell you why. I haven't ever met anyone by this name, so it can't be that popular? Adrian is also a great name. They sound very much alike.
Miles: So this isn't very unique, but it's nice.
I hope this helped, and good luck naming him! I'm sure you guys will come up with something, because Poseidon is just not acceptable! :)

POSEIDON
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Greek Mythology
Other Scripts: ΠοÏειδÏν (Ancient Greek)
Pronounced: po-SIE-dun
Possibly derived from Greek ÏοÏÎ¹Ï (posis) "husband, lord" and δε (de) "earth". In Greek mythology Poseidon was the unruly god of the sea and earthquakes, the brother of Zeus. He was often depicted carrying a trident and riding in a chariot drawn by white horses.
ANAKIN
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Popular Culture
Pronounced: AN-a-kin
Meaning unknown. This is the name of a character (also known as Darth Vader) in the 'Star Wars' saga by George Lucas. Lucas based it on the surname of his friend and fellow director Ken Annakin.
Well... I was about to take a nap when I came across your question here. I feel so sorry for you BUT, It would be fair to compromise here. Perhaps your husband would settle for using his name as a middle name?
OR.. If he just has to have his way- call your child by his middle name.
As I read the meanings of the names he has chosen (Liddell, has no meaning) I am shocked that he wants to name his son not after a relative, But a character! Perhaps you can come up with a list of names of his favorites and find one that you two agree on?
I wish you well..
Congrats and Good luck!

If he wants to get all technical and say since it was HIS grandfathers name then HE gets to choose, tell him HE dropped the name so he has no say! I would cry too if my husband wanted to name my son Poseidon. With me, I told my husband the hospital gives ME the paperwork so I pick! ALSO I think it is a good idea to throw in the fact that YOU carried the baby and YOU have to go through labor . OH I got a GOOD IDEA!! you can write your top 5 names down and he can pick which one he likes the best out of your top 5!

I totally agree with you! DO NOT let him name your child Poseidon! You don't have to call your son anything you don't want to.
Tell your husband that he will be seriously teased at school and never learn to spell his name! If you have tried that then I suggest you just give him a firm no and tell him he can pick whatever 'normal' name he wants or whichever one he wants out of the names you like - anything would be better than one of the names he has suggested! Or ask someone close to you to name the baby so that neither of you do it.
Hope that helps - good luck!

Just name hime whatever you want since he says it doesnt matter.
But, here is a way to agree upon a name.
The other thing you can do is let him make a list of names that he likes at least 10, and then you both take the list in separate rooms pick 5 from the list. Chances of it is you will agree on at least one of the names.
Good luck.

My husband comes up with some of the worst names I have ever heard. I just found out that I am prego with number three and I am not looking forward to the name game!! Our first child is a boy and I had no choice what so ever about the name. His name is Augustus David and we call him Gus. I didn't like the name at all and we fought forever, but I just gave up because I knew that we would never agree and he was NOT changing his mind! The name finally grew on me after all of our friends said they liked it...flattery helps. I would have to agree with you on those names. Anakin is the only one I would go for. Tell your husband that you both have to compromise and that your son has to live with his name for the rest of his life!! It's not fair for them to get picked on because of a selfish parent! I got to name the second boy and his name is Eagan Hendrik. Which one do you like better? I hope this pone is a girl because I will name it!! Good Luck!!

Print the baby name list A to Z from the computer, and go through it. Mark all the names you both DON'T HATE! And narrow the list from there... My husband and I had to do this with our first son, and that is what we did. We finally agreed on a name, and it fits our little guy so well! Good luck. It will all work out.

I understand where you're comming from! I couldn't imagine naming a child any of the things he has suggested. Anjay is similar to Anakin and isn't nearly so bad. Lionel is similar to Liddell and is a classic. Leonardo or Leo would also be okay. Preston would be close to Posiedon. Try to find names that sound similar or have similar meanings to what he has chosen, but that aren't quite so terrible. Good luck!

Don't give in if you hate hubby's names. Each come up with 10 names you like with the agreement that you have to pick 2 of the other person's names & go from there.

omg!! are you serious? Your child will be called a geek and get beat up all the time. tell him to grow up get out of the star wars phase and realize this kid has to live with this name for the rest of his life.
My wife and i sat in bed and made a list of baby names about 50 I think. We could only mark off 40. 10 were left on mine 10 were left on hers. and then process of elimination from there. We finally came up with Alyssa Jane for a Girl and Nathan Scott for a boy.
good ones also
Aiden Michael
Ethan Scott
Joshua Allen
I know you already have a middle name but This is how we came up with names.
