Well, that was clearly a situation of a child running the parent!

More and more that does appear to happen. But in all fairness, I see plenty of households in which the parents *are* the ones in charge.

Many parents are afraid to discipline their children, or don't know how. (And no, it does not take spanking to do this. And no, there is no one-size-fits-all discipline method.) Many parents are so concerned with being a "friend" that they lose sight of the fact that children need boundaries, and part of good parenting is the setting of those boundaries. And, frankly, people emulate what they know -- if you see a parent letting her or his child run amok, chances are pretty good that that parent, as a child, was let run amok as well (which is absolutely no excuse for it, don't get me wrong).

I tell my kid and if she doesn't then a trip to the car or the bathroom for a quick spanking is in order.

People ar eso afraid of spanking their kids or showing them who's boss they just run all over people.
I hate it. My mom would back hand me no matter where we were before the smart remark was even out of my mouth and I'm glad not to be a sniveling snott like some people are.

The kids are running things. Parents nowadays are too busy living life for themselves to raise there children. Children havent changed over the years parents have. Babies come into this world not knowing a thing , its up to parents to mold there kids.

When the kids run the show; they have a rougher time later in life. It's a shame. Some parents need some guidance in parenting and don't get it. It is available if they search for it.

What that child needed was a quick slap and be made to sit down, I have done it and it works. I always think if I see a child misbehaving, 'if that was my child I know what I would do' that is the only way to sort them out, I don't mean give them a beating just one slap usually works.

unfortunately it seems that the kids are the boss these days. Parents seem to be too busy to be effective parents, at lease from what I see. Well not in MY house. I am the mom, I am the boss and that's that. Because I said so!!

Hey, when the do-gooders started saying it was a crime to spank your kids, society went to hell. Sure, there is abuse and those parents DO belong in jail.

There are very few kids who don't need a good butt-warming now and then. That would cure a lot of these smart-mouthed kids, trust me.

you cant tar all parents /children with the same brush...yes some kids do run wild the parents threaten them a few times and if they take no notice they give up and let them carry on .....then you get the parents who tell the child once and if they don't respond they get off their butts and sort it out once and for all ....you need to be firm but fair ......

I agree with you Sean, it's ridiculous what children are getting away with these days," bring back a good spanking" I say. I was brought up under it and done me no harm.!!!
Discipline your children in moderation and not abusively.
How does the saying go "spare the child not the rod."!!!

thats a generalization...

there have always been "push over parents" and "problem children" through out the span of history...

and i dont think spanking is very good either. it simply barbaric and does not work. If it worked all you would need to do is spank your kid once and thats it.

ive never been spanked and ive never caused too many problems for my parents... taking away of privlidges anf extra work around the house is a much more effective form of punishment...
